D M Upasani

After graduating from University of Mumbai in 1969, D M Upasani worked over a period of 14 years with leading architecture firms of those times including Master & Associates, Romesh Pathare & Associates and P G Patki & Associates. In 1983, he established his own architecture practice and has since continued to be its principal architect. The practice was known as Designer's Enclave till 1989, Upasni Design Cell till 2009 and is now known as Urban Design Cell. Over two decades, Mr. Upasani has designed numerous residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, recreational, hospitality, health-care & relegious buildings.
His expertise in hotel & resort design is widely recognised. In the past 25 years, he has worked on the design of over 200 built & unbuilt hotel and resort projects across India and in countries like Thailand, Russia, South Africa, Kenya, Oman, Qatar & USA. His hospitality projects range from small budget hotels to large luxury hotels. He has designed airport hotels, business hotels, service appartments, luxury and destination resorts.
D M Upasani is a visiting faculty member at Sir J J College of Architecture and an examiner at the University of Mumbai for Architecture Design since 2000. He has lectured in numerous architecture colleges and has presented his ideas & works at several conferences & seminars across India.
Mr. Upasani is also a painter and a poet. His poetry in Marathi was published as a compilation titled 'Ugachach' in 2007.
