Pranav Upasani joined UDC in 2000. Since 2007, he is a member of the core design team and independently leads & manages certain projects. Pranav has played a lead role in the design of Hotel Sahara Star at Mumbai, Hotel Orchid & Hotel Vits at Pune and Hotel Park Inn at Muscat.
Pranav holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree (with honours) from the University of Mumbai. He has participated in a workshop on Sustainable Architecture in 2006 with Pritzker prize winning Architect Glenn Murcutt in Australia. Earlier, Pranav has worked with and assisted noted Swiss anthropologist Nold Egenter in his anthropological research work.
Apart from his work at UDC, Pranav has been undertaking independent assignments in product design, furniture design, exhibitions and graphic design since 1999. He has worked with lighting, lighting controls, switchgear, furniture, furniture components & wood processing companies on various assignments. He has designed exhibition stalls in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and in Cologne, Germany (Interzum 2009).
Pranav has founded a not-for-profit organisation "Foundation ForArchitecture" with interests in publications, exhibitions & conferences on various aspects of architecture. The foundation has published the first-ever monograph on works of late architect Nari Gandhi.
Pranav is also a trained pilot. He is passionate about flying and flying machines. His other interests include rally driving, sailing & travelling.
